Our leading educational and developmental psychologists are experienced in the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) is an observational assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorders. It is a semi-structured, standardised assessment of communication, social interaction, play, and restricted and repetitive behaviours. It presents various activities that elicit behaviours directly related to a diagnosis of ASD. By observing and coding these behaviours, psychologists can obtain information that informs diagnosis, treatment planning and educational placement. Clinicians must be trained ADOS-2 administrators as this is the most reliable diagnostic tool currently recognised by international Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) experts.
The ADOS-2 consists of four modules and a toddler module. Each module contains a series of activities designed for use with children or adults at a particular developmental and language level, ranging from no expressive or receptive language to verbally fluent adults. Only one module is administered to an individual at any given point in time.
An assessment involves gathering and collating detailed information to explore a diagnosis and treatment plan delivered by our highly experienced staff. Because each child is different, individual assessments can vary.
Assessment results are compiled in a detailed psychological report that includes relevant background information, medical history, a summary of observations and practical recommendations.
